Weird MC Gets Third Female Manager

Weird MC has moved on to her third female manager in five years.

The hiphop veteran, who’s still heavy on demand, despite not having had an album in almost four years, has entered into a management deal with Femi Kuti’s ex-wife Funke Kuti.

NET sources say the pair have been working together since last year.

It’s the first time Funke Kuti is experimenting with talent management; even though she worked closely with her husband in the nineties, touring the world and brokering concert and endorsement deals.

For Weird, it’s a fresh deal with yet another female manager.

She worked with Joice Ize-Iyamu around 2006 and 2007, before they parted ways. After breaking up with Ize-Iyamu, she moved to One Management, where she worked directly with former KUSH girl Emem Ema who was in charge of talent management at the company.

There’s a guy in the mix though : Lori Tosan – the designer who managed her briefly in 2006.

Weird’s reps confirm she’s ‘working with’ Funke Kuti; but insist ‘she has no special preference’ for female managers.

Her long-anticipated third album is expected before mid-year.
